PUEBLO, Colo. (February 15, 2017) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo softball team begins the home portion of its schedule Thursday and welcomes Colorado Christian University to Pueblo for a doubleheader nonconference match, first pitch is scheduled at 3 p.m. at Rawlings Softball Complex.
The ThunderWolves (2-2) return to the diamond after splitting its opening weekend at the Dixie State Easton Classic. The Pack dropped their first two games Thursday and evened their record Friday following a 5-4 victory in eight-innings over Western New Mexico. In the weekend finale the Pack survived 7-6 versus Concordia-Portland.
Christa Angers (Fr., Villa Park, Calif.) and Michaela Burpee (So., Union City, Calif.) each hit two homeruns, combined with an Alyssa Ubrun (Jr., Olympia, Wash.) 3-run blast helped guide the Pack offense.
In the circle Lexie Martindale (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) went 2-1 allowing nine runs, six earned in 13.0 innings pitched and nine strikeouts.
SETTING THE STAGE
CSU-Pueblo went 2-2 against Colorado Christian in 2016.
Colorado Christian University Cougars (7-5)
Last time on the field: The Cougars beat Eastern New Mexico 9-8 to wrap up the North Texas Softball Bash. CCU is led at the plate by Hanna Farmer with a .412 batting average. In the circle the Cougars are guided by Kelsea Sweeney with a 3-0 record and 2.67 ERA.
