PUEBLO, Colo. - Four ThunderWolves were recognized with second-team honors on the Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Central Region team, Daktronics announced today.

The Pack's infield - shortstop Janine Tyler (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.), third baseman Katie Johnson (Sr., Bonney Lake, Wash.) and second baseman Kelly Purcell (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.), were honored, as was centerfielder Ashley Aldrich (Sr., Sahuarita, Ariz.)

Tyler, the Pack's leading hitter with a .467 average in 2009, is ranked in the top 15 nationally in batting average.  Tyler ended her final season with the ThunderWolves standing at first place on the school's all-time list in batting average.

Johnson, a four-year starter at third base for the Pack, hit a career-best .435 in 2009, and was a second-team all-RMAC selection at third base.  She was second on the ThunderWolves in 2009 with a slugging percentage of .645.

Purcell, a first-team all-RMAC selection at second base, boasts the highest batting average among second-basemen in the region with a .421 average, and set a CSU-Pueblo single season record in 2009 with 26 stolen bases.

Aldrich, a first-team all-RMAC selection at centerfield, hit .379 for the Pack in 2009, leading the club in RBI (54).  She was also ranekd in the top 20 nationally in triples, having recorded seven three-baggers during the season.

The Pack's four members on an all-region team marks the most all-region recepients the team had ever had in any given season.  In 2009, the ThunderWolf softball program reached new heights, earning its first win in school history in the NCAA Division II softball tournament, finishing within a game of the Central Regional championship.

The Daktronics All-Central Region team was voted upon by sports information directors throughout the Central Region.  Each of the 15 first-team all-region selections will now be listed on the Daktronics Division II Baseball All-American ballot, with the announcement of those All-American teams expected Friday, May 22.
