INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The CSU-Pueblo softball team kept its hopes for a regional berth in check this week, as the Pack remained at sixth in the NCAA Central Region softball rankings, the NCAA announced Wednesday.
Despite losing out on the RMAC West Division title to Adams State by mere percentage points last weekend, CSU-Pueblo remained three spots ahead of the Grizzlies at sixth in the region. CSU-Pueblo, at 28-16 and 22-12 in RMAC play, have not qualified for the regional tournament since 2001, when the ThunderWolves won 51 games and hosted the tournament. The region's top eight teams qualify for the tourney, taking place at the site of the region's top seed (currently Winona State).
The ThunderWolves begin the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament Thursday when it takes on Regis at Metro State College of Denver at 9:30 a.m. CSU-Pueblo is the fourth-seed in the eight-team tourney.
