The CSU-Pueblo softball team battled through gusty winds all afternoon Saturday as they split the their home opening day games against Nebraska-Kearney, taking the first game 4-2, and falling 6-0 in the second game.
The T-Wolves started out game one strong as they scored three runs in the first inning which was highlighted by an RBI single by Justine Bosio (Fr., Santa Barbara, Calif.). A wild pitch and a sacrafice fly capped the inning. The Pack tallied an insurance run in the sixth inning with an RBI single by Janine Tyler (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.). Amber Higby (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) got the nod as she picked up her third win on the season by striking out three and walking only one Loper.
The second game seemed like a completely different team took the field. Five ThunderWolves errors proved to be extremely costly who could not connect on the Kearney starting pitching. Kelsey Swanberg (Sr., Arvada, Colo.) fell to 2-3 on the year.
The Pack finishes up the four game series with another double header scheduled tomorrow with the first game starting at 11 am.
