DENVER, Colo. (April 15, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo tennis programs concluded Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play Sunday with losses at Metro State University of Denver. Both squads lost 9-0.
The men's program ranks No. 49 nationally and finished the regular season with an 11-14 overall record and an even 3-3 mark in RMAC play. The women's program went 4-20 in 2017-18 with a 2-4 record in league play. The teams will now focus on the RMAC Tournament, set for April 20-21 back in Denver, Colo. at The Regency Athletic Complex. The RMAC will release the brackets for the tournament when all the regular season matches are complete this week. Matches begin at 8 a.m. Friday.
Seniors David Mould (Upminster Essex, United Kingdom) and Steven Alcala (Pueblo, Colo.) gathred the only set wins for the Pack men against the No. 36 Roadrunners, as both won the second set at No. 4 and No. 6, respectfully. Mould lost the match 6-1, 1-6, 6-1, while Alcala fell 4-6, 6-4, 10-12.
Senior Samantha Cachutt (Caracas, Venezuela) secured the only set win for the women's squad, as she won her first set 7-6 (6), before losing 6-0 and then 11-9 in the tiebreak. Junior Nia Matthews (Houston, Texas) battled at the No. 2 spot, but would lose 7-5, 7-5.
