PUEBLO, Colo. (March 1, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's and women's tennis programs will each play three matches in Oklahoma March 2-3, as Cameron University hosts a weekend in Lawton.
Both teams will play Cameron at 8 a.m. MST Friday. The men continue their weekend Friday at 2 p.m. versus St. Mary's University. At 4 p.m. Saturday, The Pack will battle Southeastern Oklahoma. For the women, the ThunderWolves will play twice on Saturday starting with a 9 a.m. MST battle against Tarleton State University and concluding with a match against Southeastern.
The Pack men were ranked No. 7 in the South Central Region in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association regional poll (January 17). They are 6-7 overall this season, but 0-4 in 2018, all against NCAA Division I teams. Freshman Thomas Pudney (Southend, United Kingdom) has earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors twice this season, including Wednesday. He is 9-2 in dual competition at singles and owns a 6-7 record at doubles. He ranks 35th nationally. The pair of Steven Alcala (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) and Cade Boedeker (Fr., Keller, Texas) is 8-3 overall at No. 3 doubles.
For the women, the team has an 0-8 record, including a loss to Northern Colorado in the long match of 2018. The ThunderWolves are led in singles by Kali Hamilton (Fr., Grapevine, Texas), who has a pair of wins. The doubles squad of Samantha Cachutt (Sr., Caracas, Miranda) and Acacia Dettman (Sr., Perris, Calif.) are 2-0 together, while Dettman has four doubles victories.
