Men win, women fall in close one to Colorado College


PUEBLO, Colo. (April 14, 2017) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's and women's tennis teams hosted Colorado College Thursday at the Pueblo City Park with the men posting an 8-1 victory and the women suffering a close loss by the score of 5-4.

James Ryan (Jr., London, England) won at No. 1 singles 6-2 and 7-5 and also partnered with sophomore Dante Alcala (Pueblo, Colo.) for a doubles win by the score of 8-1.

Junior Steven Alcala (Pueblo, Colo.) won at No. 3 singles 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 and won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles with Marcelo Rodriguez (Jr., San Diego, Calif.). Rodriguez also earned a victory at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 7-5.

At No. 4, junior David Mould (Upminster Essex, United Kingdom) won 6-0, 6-2 and partnered at No. 1 singles with Nick Wade (Fr., Upminster Essex, United Kingdom) to win 8-0.

The Pack women lost 5-4 to the Tigers. 

The lone doubles win came at No. 2 when junior Acacia Dettman (Perris, Calif.) and Sarah Megilligan (Fr., Pueblo West, Colo.) partnered to post an 8-3 victory.

Dettman also got the win at No. 2 singles, 1-6, 6-2, 6-3, while Megilligan was also 2-0 with a victory at No. 6, 6-3, 6-3.

The final win for the Pack came at No. 5 singles by Kristin Jensen (Colorado Springs, Colo.). She won 6-2, 6-0.

The final regular season match is set for Saturday at Colorado Mesa University. The match is set to begin at 9 a.m. CMU defeated the men 7-2 last Friday and earned a win on the Pack women 9-0.
