PUEBLO, Colo. (September 30, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's soccer team dropped its second straight game 2-0 at University of Colorado Colorado Springs Sunday at Mountain Lion Stadium.
Despite finishing ahead in both shots (12-11) and corner kicks (6-4), it was two shots off deflections for the Mountain Lions to come away with the win.
In the 11th minute, UCCS put a deflection back in to the right side for the early lead.
The Pack's Richard Panknin (So., Sassnitz, Germany) hit the first shot one minute into the match that sailed high of the net. The first corner kick attempt for CSU-Pueblo was in the 15th minute, taken by Michael Chism (Sr., Littleton, Colo.).
A header attempt by Chism midway through the first half was saved by UCCS goalkeeper Scott Jensen.
At halftime both teams recorded six shots.
In the second half, the ThunderWolves kept getting good looks at the net and had a flurry of shots early in the half in trying to score.
UCCS extended the lead to 2-0 in the 67th minute on a shot first saved but was put back from five yards out past Pack goalkeeper Tyler Harvey (Jr., Henderson, Nev.).
Harvey finished with four saves in the match.
Santiago Tinta (Sr., Quito, Ecuador) led the team with his three shots.
CSU-Pueblo (4-5-1, 1-4-1 RMAC) stays on the road and play Oct. 5 at Colorado Christian, kickoff is set for 2:30 PM at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood, Colo.
