COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 24, 2017) - Colorado State University-Pueblo men's soccer players Brayden Ballman (Fr., Seattle, Wash.) and Connor Marth (Sr., Tulsa, Okla.) were each rewarded for stellar play guiding the ThunderWolves to an unbeaten 1-0-1 record last week.
Ballman secured his first league accolade after netting his first career hat trick and Marth recorded three assists Friday in a 4-2 win against South Dakota Mines on Parent's/Senior Night at Gonzales Stadium. Wednesday the Pack played UCCS to a 0-0 tie at Mountain Lion Stadium in Colorado Springs.
The duo connected on the first and third goals scored all in the first half against the Hardrockers.
Ballman tallied a game-high four shots, all on goal, to bring his season goal total to a team leading five scores.
The 6-foot-4 frosh sealed the hat trick in the 89th minute, converting a penalty kick for a goal.
Marth earned his first assist after taking a free kick from 30 yards out and serving the ball into the box in the tenth minute which was headed into the net. He later assisted in the 26th minute flicking a pass ahead on a breakaway past the defense.
The senior ended his final home match of his career with another dime ten minutes later on the game's third score.
Defensively Marth helped anchor the Pack defense in holding the opposition to a .069 shooting percentage and just seven shots on goal in two games.
Marth was also responsible for taking eleven corner kicks and he fired two shots in two games.
CSU-Pueblo (3-9-4, 3-5-4 RMAC) continues its push for a postseason berth in the final week of the regular season. The Pack hit the road and play Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Colorado Mines before ending the regular season Sunday at Regis, kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at Regis Match Pitch.
