Griffins get away from Pack MLAX

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah  (April 20, 2018) – After a solid first quarter, Colorado State University – Pueblo Men's Lacrosse faded as Westminster College ran away with a 20-5 win Friday at Dumke Field.

The Pack slipped to 5-7 on the season. They are now  1-5 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. Westminster improved to 7-6 (3-3 RMAC).

Hunter Thompson (Sr., Greenwood Village, Colo.) led the Pack with three points. Thompson fired in two goals and dished out an assist.

Anthony Ferrie (Jr, Littleton, Colo.) potted two goals. Ferrie also tied for the team-lead with three ground balls. Devin Thrower (So., Las Vegas, Nev.) also snagged three ground balls.

Freshmen Michael DeMaio (Gambrills, Md.) and Drake Lovato (West Linn, Ore.) led the Pack with two caused turnovers each.

Blake Foerster (Sr., Centennial, Colo.) scored a goal for the Pack. Caleb Johnson (Sr., Castle Rock, Colo.) had an assist. Johnson also won 10 faceoffs.

The Pack trailed 4-3 after one. Ferrie had two of the Pack's three goals in the first. The ThunderWolves even led 3-2 just five minutes into the game. However, they would not find the back of the net again for another 32 minutes.

From the second quarter on, the game belonged to Westminster. The Griffins would score 18 of the last 20 goals to pull away with a 20-5 win.

CSU-Pueblo will continue its four-game road swing Sunday when the Pack plays Colorado Mesa University at 2 p.m. The Pack will return home Saturday April 28 when the ThunderWolves celebrate their first senior day at 3 p.m. against Adams State University.
