AMARILLO, Texas (March 13, 2018) - Junior Roy Carlsen (Arvada, Colo.) recorded a two-under 69 on the final day of the West/South Central Regional Preview Tuesday to guide the Colorado State University-Pueblo men's golf team to tie for the eighth best score of the day.
The event was held at the La Paloma Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas and hosted by West Texas A&M University. The ThunderWolves finished 18th and moved up four spots from day one. The Pack shot 309-294--603 (+35) for the 36-hole tournament. The 294 (+10) tied for the eighth best score of the 23 teams competing on day two, but the rough start Monday put CSU-Pueblo towards the back of the field.
In his final round, Carlsen had four birdies and an eagle on 17, a 508-yard, par 5. He finished the tournament T-25th with a 78-69--147 (+5). The junior finished the weekend +2 on Par 3's.
Senior Neil Tillman (Arvada, Colo.) carded a consistent 74-74--148 to finish six-over and T-32nd. He totaled a team-high eight birdies in the 36 holes.
Fraser Hughes (Jr., Newton Stewart, Scotland) finished T-69th after shooting 78-74--152 (+10). Listed as the team's No. 1 for the weekend, freshman Nathan McCann (Lurgan, Armagh, Ireland) shot a 79 on day one to post the final score for the team, but carded an 81 Tuesday. Freshman Sam Barthram (Weybridge, Surrey, UK) stepped up and was the final score counted for the team today with a round of 77.
The team heads west March 19-20 to the The Joust at Goose Creek in Riverside, California at the Goose Creek Golf Club.
