Kam & Tillman open season as Preseason All-RMAC honorees

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  (August 31, 2017) The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released its annual preseason polls for men's and women's golf Thursday. Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Golf ranked third in the preseason coaches poll, while the Pack men placed fifth.

Pack senior Neil Tillman (Arvada, Colo.) received preseason All-RMAC acclaim on the men's side. Jolene Kam (Jr., Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia) earned a Preseason All-RMAC nod for CSU-Pueblo Women's Golf from the RMAC coaches.

Tillman was tabbed First Team All-RMAC for the first time in his career as a junior.  He also earned First Team Academic All-RMAC honors for his work in the classroom. Tillman finished 11th at last year's RMAC Championships with a +4 (217). He finished his junior season by taking 25th place at the NCAA South Central Region Tournament, carding a -3 (213).

Kam has earned Second Team All-RMAC accolades in each of her first two seasons for the Pack. As a sophomore, Kam medaled at the RMAC Championships, recording a tie for fifth place. She finished + 9 (153) to help the Pack women to a second place finish at the RMAC Championships. Successful in both the classroom and the course, Kam claimed a spot on the RMAC's Academic Honor Roll in 2016-17.  

Both the Pack men and women dropped one place from the 2016-17 finish in the preseason polls. CSU-Pueblo's women's team came in third in the preseason coaches poll, but did receive a first place vote. In addition to Kam, the ThunderWolves return Second Team all-RMAC honoree Courtney Ewing (Jr., Pueblo West, Colo.).

On the Men's side the ThunderWolves fell to fifth place in the preseason poll, after placing fourth in the 2016-17 RMAC Championships. They wrapped up the 2016-17 season with a 10th place finish at the Regional Tournament.

CSU-Pueblo golf will open the season at home with the annual Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational. The Pack women will tee off at the Pueblo Country Club Monday Sept. 4 at 1:30 p.m. The ThunderWolf men will hit the links at Walking Stick Golf Course Monday at 8:30 a.m. for two rounds of play. On Tuesday, the Pack women begin play at 9 a.m., while the men's round starts at 8:30.
