Pack tied for sixth after day two of own Southwest Kansas Shootout


GARDEN CITY, Kansas (April 10, 2017) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's golf team sits tied for sixth after two rounds of the Southwest Kansas Shootout. The ThunderWolves are co-hosts for the 54-hole event with Dodge City Community College at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City, Kansas.

The Pack are 31-over for the tournament with team scores of 311-296--607. Indian Hills Community College leads the way at two-over, while CSU-Pueblo is third among Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams. Colorado Mesa University is third (+25) and Colorado Christian University (+26) is fourth. The Pack are tied with Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Sophomore Roy Carlsen's (Arvada, Colo.) first round 75 (+3) had him tied for eighth in windy and cold weather. The scores came down in round two as conditions improved and Carlsen took advantage with a one-over 73. He is four-over (148) for the tournament to rank tied for seventh.

Senior Jake Ice (Tucson, Ariz.) shot the low round of the day for the ThunderWolves with a second round 70. He shot 79-70--149 (+5) to rank tied for 13th. Senior Jacob Allenback (Pueblo, Colo.) is top 30 in the field of 84, as he shot 77-77--154 (+10) to rank tied for 29th.

Senior GJ Kuhn (Ayr, Ontario, Canada) scored for the ThunderWolves with an 80-76--156 (+12). He sits tied for 43rd. Freshman Austin Burgess (Colorado Springs, Colo.) is the team's top individual with matching 78's to also rank T-43rd at 12-over.

The final 18 holes will be played at 8:30 a.m. CDT.
