STOCKTON, Calif. (February 14, 2017) - Senior Jake Ice (Tucson, Ariz.) shot a bogey-free final round of The Visit Stockton Cactus Thaw! to guide the Colorado State University-Pueblo men's golf team in the first tournament of the spring season.
The ThunderWolves finished 14th of 22 teams with a seven-over 290-293--583. The Pack only shot three strokes more than the first round, but the field went low Tuesday to move CSU-Pueblo from the sixth spot after round one to 14th.
Ice shot a 69 Tuesday with three birdies and 15 pars. He finished tied for 13th (of 123) after a two-round total of 72-69--141 (-3). Both junior Neil Tillman (Arvada, Colo.) and senior GJ Kuhn (Ayr, Ontario, Canada) both finished tied for 66th with a three-over 147. Kuhn was the Pack's leader Monday with a 71 and finished with a 76 today. Tillman shot 74-73 in the 36-hole tournament.
California-Baptist won the event with a 286-278--564 (-12). The ThunderWolves were fourth among Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foes. Colorado Christian University shot 286-285--571 (-5) to finish eighth, while University of Colorado Colorado Springs posted a 296-285--581 (+5) to finish 12th and Colorado School of Mines was 13th after a 302-280--582 (+6).
The ThunderWolves continue the season at the Lubbock Christian University Chaps Invite March 6-7 at The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas.
