STOCKTON, Calif. (Febrary 13, 2017) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's golf team shot a two-over 290 on day one of The Visit Stockton Cactus Thaw! to open the spring portion of its season. Senior GJ Kuhn (Ayr, Ontario, Canada) shot a one-under 71 to sit tied for 16th in the two round tournament.
The ThunderWolves are sixth in the 22-team tournament, played at the Brookside Country Club in Stockton, California. The field is made up of a mix of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and super region foes, as the Pack are second among conference schools.
Kuhn carded a 71 with four birdies and three bogeys. The top four golfers for the Pack are separted by just three strokes, as senior Jake Ice (Tucson, Ariz.) recorded an even 72 to sit tied for 23rd. Senior Jacob Allenback (Pueblo, Colo.) posted a 73 (+1) and junior Neil Tillman (Arvada, Colo.) carded a 74 (+2).
Western Washington leads with a 282 (-6), while the Pack are the second lowest team from the RMAC with Colorado Christian University sitting tied for second with a two-under 286.
The 36-hole tournament wraps Tuesday morning with the Pack teeing off at 9 a.m. MST.
