COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (December 18, 2017) - Following his first two games as a member of the Colorado State University-Pueblo men's basketball team, sophomore Jason Anderson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, released by the league office Monday.
Anderson joins teammate Will Newman (Sr., G, Hawthorne, Calif.) as the two ThunderWolves with weekly honors from the league this season. Newman was recognized as the defensive player of the Week Nov. 27.
After sitting out the first semester due to transfer rules, Anderson averaged 26 points and eight rebounds in his first two games as a member of the Pack (both road wins for CSU-Pueblo). He also totaled a team-high three blocks and added a steal. He shot 76.7 percent from the field (23-for-30), was 2-of-3 (66.7%) from long range and hit on 4-of-6 (66.7%) from the free throw line. Anderson scored 52 total points and brought down 16 rebounds in just 50 minutes (25 mpg) of work.
In the win against Western State Colorado University Saturday, Anderson dropped 36 points in 22 minutes and shot 15-for-20 (75%) from the field. He also added six rebounds and a block. Against Colorado Mesa University Friday, his first game of the season and his birthday, Anderson recorded his first double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds with two blocks and a steal.
The ThunderWovles take their two-game win streak into the holiday break and will return to the court Dec. 30 at Black Hills State University. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
