ThunderWolves shoot 51 percent from the field, outlast Aggies.
PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Nov. 20, 2010) - CSU-Pueblo again proved that its roster of mainly new players were adept at finding the bucket, shooting 51 percent from the field and hitting 20-for-28 from the charity stripe and outlasting Oklahoma Panhandle State 74-69.
The win, the Pack's first of the season, closed out the 2010 Al Kaly Classic, where CSU-Pueblo went 1-1.
For the second consecutive night, senior forward Daniel Pierce (Sr., Edgewood, N.M.) turned in his second-straight double-double with a 17-point, 10-board effort, earning all-Al Kaly Classic honors. Joining him in the honors circle was Kris Lawrie (Sr., Gardena, Calif.), who added nine points and five boards against the Aggies.
Though Panhandle played strong and close all-game long, closing up a halftime deficit of 12 points to as close as three down the stretch, CSU-Pueblo never lost the lead all night long.
CSU-Pueblo will take the Thanksgiving weekend off before returning to the hardwood for their RMAC opener Dec. 3 vs. Adams State.
