PUEBLO, Colo. (September 5, 2017) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo football team is back into the nation's top 10, as the ThunderWolves were ranked No. 7 in the first regular season edition of the American Football Coaches Association and D2Football.com polls.
The Pack ranked No. 12 in both publication's preseason polls. It had been a year since the team was in the top 10 nationally, as they were ranked No. 5 in the AFCA and No. 4 in the D2Football.com 2016 preseason polls.
The jump in the ranks is thanks to a 38-7 season-opening victory versus then-No. 16 Colorado School of Mines. Also, four teams in the preseason top 10 suffered week one losses.
Colorado Mesa University is ranked No. 17 in the AFCA poll and No. 22 in the D2Football.com rankings to also represent the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
CSU-Pueblo travels to West Texas A&M University Saturday, Sept. 9 for a nonconference battle at 5 p.m. MT.
