PUEBLO, Colo. (May 5, 2018) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Baseball bestowed senior Jordyn Compehos with the Dave Lange Memorial Scholarship in a ceremony during Saturday's doubleheader at Rawlings Field.
During the summer of 2016, CSU-Pueblo Baseball lost a close friend and mentor when former Assistant coach Dave Lange tragically passed away. Lange joined the program as a volunteer coach when Pack Baseball restarted in 1994. He remained a volunteer coach and presence in the Pack dugout until 2010. Dave helped start the Pack Rendezvous.
The lights and many other features around Rawlings Field were made possible because of Lange. He recruited players to Pack Baseball on his own dime.
Lange helped the Pack advance to their NCAA D-II World Series appearance in 1996. Dave was in the dugout for almost 600 Pack wins.
The Lange family has created a scholarship to honor Dave. This scholarship will be awarded to one Pack Baseball student-athlete in Dave's memory.
David Gunther received the first Dave Lange Memorial Scholarship last year. Compehos (Sr., Las Vegas, Nev.) is nearing his degree in Exercise Science.
Compehos has hit .500 (6-for-12) since the start of April. He has scored six runs and walked four times during that span. Compehos has a .625 OBP since April 1.
