COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 27, 2018) – A home run from Robbie Espinosa would be the only offense Colorado State University-Pueblo Basebal could muster as the Pack dropped their series opener to University of Colorado Colorado Springs 14-3 Friday afternoon.
The Pack fell to 23-18 on the year and 15-13 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The Mountain Lions improved to 24-20 (18-14 RMAC).
Tanner Fuhrmann (Sr., Flagstaff, Ariz.) reached base in all four of his plate appearances. Fuhrman had three hits and walked. He would score on Espinosa's blast. Fuhrmann also slugged his 13th double of the season.
Espinosa (Jr., Yorba Linda, Calif.) had only one hit on the day, but it was a three-run home run. The dinger was Espinosa's fourth of the season. He ranks second on the Pack in round trippers.
The Mountain Lions jumped on the Pack early with six runs in the first inning. They added one in the second and three in the third. UCCS put up another three spot in the fifth to make it 13-0.
CSU-Pueblo finally got on the board in the sixth. Romero walked. Fuhrmann followed with a single. With two on and no outs, Espinosa mashed a shot over the wall in left-center field.
UCCS added one more in the seventh. They would roll to a 14-3 win.
The Pack and Mountain Lions will meet in a doubleheader Saturday starting at 12 p.m. They will conclude their series Sunday at 12 p.m.
