PUEBLO, Colo. (November 16, 2016) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Baseball will host its annual 24th Christmas Camp at the Colorado State Fairgrounds from Dec. 19-21. The Pack will also partner with CSU-Pueblo Softball to host their joint Academy Camp Dec. 4, 2016- March 4, 2017.
CSU-Pueblo Baseball will host its annual Christmas Camp from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Pack's Christmas will run Monday Dec. 19 –Wednesday Dec. 21 in the Live Stock Pavilion at the Colorado State Fairgrounds. This camp is open to boys and girls from ages 6-16.
Campers will receive a free T-shirt and instruction in hitting techniques, infield and outfield drills, pitching and catching mechanics, and situational simulations. The camp costs $75 for single camper with $10 discounts for groups and families, $15 discounts for teams of seven or more, and $20 discounts for military families.
The 24th Annual Baseball and Softball Academy offers open training sessions six days per week from Sunday Dec. 4, 2016 – Saturday March 4, 2016. Also held at the Live Stock Pavilion in Colorado State Fairgrounds, the Academy runs from 6-9 p.m. Monday –Thursday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturdays, and 3-6 p.m. Sundays.
CSU-Pueblo Head Coaches Stan Sanchez, and Christie Koschke will offer lessons in pitch recognition, swing breakdowns, hitting to all fields, and video swing analysis. Pitching lessons will include strategies, basic pitches and special grips, delivery, release, and follow through, and video analysis of pitching mechanics.
For the full three months of training, the academy costs $150. One month of academy lessons runs $75 with drop in sessions costing $10. Group discounts will also apply to the Academy, ranging from $15- $40 depending on the size of the group.
Sanchez has a record of 784-501-1 in 23 seasons at CSU-Pueblo. He has the most wins of any active coach in the RMAC and became just the 49th coach in NCAA Division II history to eclipse 700 wins. Over the past 23 years, Stan Sanchez has built one of the winningest NCAA D-II baseball programs in the nation with 19 winning seasons in that span.
Koschke holds a 106-93 record as Head Coach of CSU-Pueblo including an 88-57 record in conference. She led the Pack to a 2nd place finish in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in 2014 and a 2nd place finish in the RMAC Tournament in 2016.
