PUEBLO, Colo. (October 10, 2018) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Laikyn Koss (Sr., Riverside, Calif.) and Nathan McCann (So., Lurgan, Armagh, Ireland) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.
Laikyn Koss has caught fire over the last two weeks of the season for the women's soccer team. Koss has posted 11 points, scoring five goals with an assist over the last four games.
As a result, the women are riding a four-game win streak and they picked up three wins on the road during that span.
Last week at Black Hills State, Koss scored the first goal in the Pack's 3-2 win over the Yellow Jackets. Her goal came in the 10' on a through ball to the top of the box and Koss placed the ball low and past the goalkeeper.
Sunday at Regis, Koss and Co. won 2-1 behind the game-winner from Koss in the 83' of the game. Koss took one of her infamous left footed shots from just inside the 18-yard box and fired into the top third of the goal to secure the win.
On the year, Koss leads the RMAC in shots per game (4.60) and is in the top ten in points (14), goals (6) and is third in the league with her three game-winning goals.
She leads the team in shots (49) and shots on goal (18).
On the men's side, McCann was the best golfer this week at the RMAC Fall Preview.
McCann earned his third collegiate victory and first this season at the Preview.
McCann won the RMAC Fall Preview with a -3 (141) that helped him finish atop the leaderboard. He led the whole way and beat the rest of the 63-golfer field by at least two strokes.
McCann was the only golfer with two rounds below par, shooting a -2 (70) in round one, which was the lowest round at the event. He also shot a -1 (71) in round two
The sophomore led the field with nine birdies and a -3-scoring mark on par threes and a -3 on par fives.
The Pack has been the top RMAC team at three of their four tournaments this season.
Next for women's soccer, they return home and start their final homestand of the regular season. Friday the Pack host Western State for the annual RESPECT game. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. and Sunday the Pack host Colorado Mesa at 12 p.m., both matches at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
The men's golf team wrap the fall portion of the schedule this week at the NCAA West/South Central Region Preview at The Ledges Golf Club in St. George, Utah.
