PUEBLO, Colo. (September 26, 2018) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Jolene Kam (Sr., Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia) and Brayden Ballman (So, Seattle, Wash.) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.
Kam was the top RMAC golfer at the WNMU Fall Intercollegiate. She shot a +1 (145) to finish 8th overall in a 98 golfer field. Her eighth place finish was the best finish of any RMAC golfer. Kam carded a career-best even par 72 on day one and finished +1 (73) on day two, the second-best round of her college career.
Her efforts led the Pack to a 5th place finish, which was also the best of any RMAC school. They Pack beat six RMAC schools, topping its closest RMAC competition, Regis by three strokes. The ThunderWolves have not been beaten by another RMAC school in three tournaments this season. A Pack golfer has been the top RMAC finisher at every tournament this season.
On the men's side, Ballman and ThunderWolves are coming off a 1-1 showing at home last week against Colorado School of Mines and South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.
Ballman scored two goals in the two games and now leads the team in goals (3) this season.
Friday, the Pack dropped a 3-2 decision against Colorado School of Mines. In the match, Ballman's goal in the 72' minute tied the match at the time against the Orediggers.
Sunday against South Dakota Mines & Technology, the Pack rebounded and defeated the Hardrockers 2-1 in front of the home crowd at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
Ballman scored his second goal in as many games in the 47' which proved to be the game winner and secured the first conference win for the Pack.
Next up for the Pack women's golf team is the West Texas A&M Fall Invite, set for Oct. 1-2 at La Paloma Golf Course in Amarillo, Texas.
The men's soccer team begins a four-game road trip this week with games scheduled Friday at Regis and Sunday at UCCS.
