PUEBLO, Colo. (September 19, 2018) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Page Heller (Jr., Vancouver, Wash.) and Marcelo Laguera (Sr., Chihuahua, Mexico) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.
Heller, a member of the Pack volleyball team, had an incredible 83 digs this week. She set the school record for digs in a match with 39 digs against Black Hills State. Her 39 digs are also the most in the RMAC this season, three more than anyone else.
Heller averaged 6.92 digs per set this week, including at least 20 in each match. She leads the RMAC and stands 16th in D-II with 267 digs. Heller had four aces this week. She is the only student-athlete in the RMAC with three 30+dig matches.
The Pack's libero ranks second in the RMAC with 5.24 digs per set. Heller ranks 43rd in D-II in digs per set.
On the men's side, Laguera clocked a time of 25:58.87 at the Mountaineer/Cowboy Invite Saturday, set at nearly 8,000 feet, to win his second 8K race of the young season. The senior won by 58 seconds. He was also victorious at the Colorado College Invite Sept. 8.
The ThunderWolves, who ranked No. 8 in today's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national poll, finished second in the race to host and No. 4 Western State Colorado University. This season the Pack have two runner-up finishes to two top five teams nationally.
The volleyball team begins a four-game road trip this week and plays Friday at Colorado Christian and wrap the weekend Saturday at No. 23 Regis.
Next up, the Pack men will race Oct. 6 at the Conference Crossover in Romeoville, Illinois, hosted by Lewis University.
