PUEBLO, Colo. (May 17, 2018) - Three Colorado State University-Pueblo student-athletes were selected to the Google Cloud NCAA Division II Academic All-District® 6 Women's At-Large Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams announced in June.
The ThunderWolves totaled three selections to the 10 student-athletes on the District 6 team, which is made up of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Heartland Conference and the Lone Star Conference. The three award winners tied for the most of any school from all eight districts in Division II.
From the women's golf program, Courtney Ewing (Pueblo West, Colo.) was honored for the second straight year, Nia Matthews (Jr., Houston, Texas) from women's tennis gathered the award and Arianna Rohde (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska) from swimming and diving was recognized as All-District. Ewing owns a 3.98 GPA in biology and chemistry, Matthews touts a 4.0 GPA in computer information systems and Rohde has a 3.84 GPA in chemistry and biochemistry.
2018 Academic All-District (two-time recipient) ... RMAC Academic Golfer of the Year ... Academic All-RMAC First Team ... RMAC Golfer of the Year ... All-RMAC First Team ... National Qualifier as an individual and finished T-34th (+19) at the NCAA Division II West Region Championships ... Entered the region championships with a 74.79 stroke average (almost six strokes better than last season) to not only lead the team but rank No. 31 in NCAA Division II ... Headed to the regional ranked No. 58 in the Golfstat player rankings ... After the region tournament ranks No. 75 in Division II with a 75.27 stroke average that sits No. 38 in the nation... Totaled 58 birdies in 22 rounds of play ... Gathered medalist honors at the RMAC Championship, as she tied for fifth at nine-over ... A four-time RMAC Golfer of the Week award winner this season ... Shot her low round of the season in the second round of the NCAA West Regional Preview at the Hillcrest Golf Club Sept. 19, when she carded a 69 to finish the tournament tied for second at +2 ... In nine tournaments before the region championships, Ewing finished top 5 four times and top 10 on five occasions with a top 20 placing in all nine tournaments in 2017-18 ... Had five rounds at even-par or better this season.
2018 Academic All-District ... Academic All-RMAC First Team ... All-RMAC First Team Singles ... All-RMAC Second Team Doubles ... Matthews finished with a 6-21 record in singles play, which included a 2-4 mark in RMAC play ... Was 4-8 at No. 2 singles and had a pair of wins at the No. 1 spot ... Her nine wins in doubles play was second best on the squad ... Paired with Kali Hamilton, the two were 9-14 overall with a 3-3 mark in RMAC play.
2018 Academic All-District ... 2018 RMAC All-Academic First Team ... Broke a program record in the 100 fly with a time of 57.91 at the RMAC Championships ... Achieved a Pack record 2:09.30 in the 200 fly at the same meet ...Placed ninth at the RMAC Championships in the 100 fly ... Earned the Pack's highest individual finish of the meet with a seventh place finish in the 200 fly ... The Alaskan also took 14th in the 100 back (59.26) and 200 back (2:11.34) ... Throughout the season, Rohde earned a top three finish eight times, second most on the Pack ... Her 12 top five finishes led the team ... Earned two event wins during the 2017-18 campaign ... Rohde currently holds the Pack record in every distance in the backstroke.
