Christensen and Popham named Pack Athletes of the Week presented by Mobile Record Shredders

PUEBLO, Colo. (April 11, 2018) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Taylor Christensen (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Dakota Popham (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.

Christensen was dominant on both ends of the field as she led the Pack to a 24-1 win over Adams State. Defensively, Christensen caused three turnovers. She also snagged five ground balls and controlled three draws.

While on offense Christensen had two goals and three assists. Christensen's efforts helped the Pack set a program record with 24 goals. Their one goal allowed was also the lowest in program history.

Christensen now ranks sixth in the RMAC with 3.7 ground balls per game.

On the men's side, Popham had a monster week to lead the Pack to a pod sweep of NMHU and Adams State. The junior went 8-for-14 (.571) with 9 RBIs and 6 runs scored.  Popham slugged 1.071 with a home run a four doubles. He had a.750 OBP thanks to four walks.

The Pack's third baseman had his best game of the series when he went 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs and two runs scored against NMHU. In the series finale against Adams State University, Popham had two doubles in the same innings propelling the Pack to an eight-run sixth and a 16-5 win over the Grizzlies. His four RBIs in the series finale matched a season-high.   

Popham ranks second in the RMAC with a .416 average. His .683 slugging percentage ranks sixth in the RMAC.

The women's lacrosse team stays home this week and hosts Oklahoma Baptist Apr. 14 at noon at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.

The Pack baseball team will look to extend their five-game win streak when they host Colorado Christian University in a four-game series at Rawlings Field. This series between the Pack and the Cougars starts Friday at 6 p.m. and continues with an Alumni Day doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. They will wrap up the series Sunday at 12 p.m.
