PUEBLO, Colo. (March 8, 2018) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Katie Cunningham (Sr., Aurora, Colo.) and Blake Foerster (Sr., Centennial, Colo.) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.
Cunningham was named RMAC Tournament MVP as she led the Pack to its record sixth RMAC Tournament Championship. She scored a career-high 26 points on 8-of-11 shooting (72.7 percent) from the field in the RMAC Tournament Championship game to lead the Pack to victory over Black Hills State Saturday. Cunningham missed the Pack's first triple-double since 1989 by one assist.
The senior still dished out a career-high nine assists and pulled in 14 rebounds. She had 17 points and 10 rebounds in the second half alone as the Pack held the Yellow Jacket scoreless over the last 3:25 of the game. The RMAC Defensive Player of the Year mad 9-of-12 at the charity stripe.
Cunningham was also the RMAC's Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-RMAC selection for the second consecutive season. Cunningham leads the RMAC with 4.9 assists per game and 147 total assists. The senior ranks 20th in assists in D-II. Her 2.3 assist/turnover ratio also tops the conference. Cunningham's 2.3 assist to turnover ratio leads the RMAC and ranks 20th in D-II. The senior's 4.4 assist per game for her career ranks third all-time at CSU-Pueblo. Cunningham's 147 assists in 2017-18 are the third-highest single-season total in program history.
Cunningham leads the RMAC in rebounding with 9.7 boards per game. Her 585 career boards rank eighth all-time at CSU-Pueblo. She ranks fourth in rebounds per game in school history with 9.4 rebounds per game over here career.
On the men's side, Foerster cranked in six goals for his second career sock trick. Foerster is the only player to net six goals in a regular season game in Pack history. He achieved his first sock trick March 7, 2017 against University of Great Falls.
Foerster's effort led the Pack to an 18-9 victory Adams State in the Pack's RMAC opener. They are 1-1 overall.
The Attackman leads the RMAC with 5.0 goals per game. His 5.0 points per game place him second in the RMAC.
Foerster is the Pack's all-time leading scorer with 90 points. His 60 goals and 30 assists also are the best in program history.
The Pack women's basketball team season continues in the NCAA Tournament. The Pack earned the three-seed and takes on six-seed MSU Denver Friday at 11 a.m. (MST) at regional host-Lubbock Christian. The men's lacrosse team begins a three-game homestand Saturday against Rockhurst (Mo.) at 11 a.m. at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
