Urenda and Staines named Pack Athletes of the Week presented by Mobile Record Shredders

PUEBLO, Colo. (December 13, 2017) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Angelique Urenda (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) and Thomas Staines (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.

Urenda broke her own pole vault record she established last week (11'8.5" - 3.57m) by vaulting 12 feet and 0.75 inches (3.68m).

The reigning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week ranks ninth nationally and has the best mark in the RMAC this season in the pole vault. She competed in the high jump and posted a mark of 5' 3.25" (1.61m) to finish fourth.

On the men's side, Staines ran the 800m run in 1:55.45, which converted to an NCAA Division II provisional time of 1:52.12. The mark ranks third in teh RMAC, fifth nationally and was 0.45 seconds faster than his NCAA time last week.

He also ran the opening leg of the winning 4x400m relay squad. Their time of 3:25.39 is the fastest in the league this season and ranks 20th nationally.

The CSU-Pueblo indoor track & field season continues at the MLK Invitational Jan. 19 in Albuquerque, NM.
