Cunningham and Nuolivirta named Pack Athletes of the Week presented by Mobile Record Shredders

PUEBLO, Colo. (November 29, 2017) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Katie Cunningham (Sr., Aurora, Colo.) and Mika Nuolivirta (Sr., Vantaa, Uusimaa, Finland) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.

Cunningham dished out a career-best eight assists in a 62-61 loss against Eastern New Mexico Friday at the West Texas Thanksgiving Classic. Saturday she scored a season-high 15 points on a perfect shooting day from the field against tournament host No. 5 West Texas A&M.

Against ENMU, Cunningham finished with 12 points and collected six boards and went 3-for-7 from the field and 2-for-4 from downtown.

Saturday versus WT, Cunningham went 4-for-4 from the field and hit a pair of 3-pointers. She also sank 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. The Pack fell 65-49 to the Lady Buffs.

Cunningham led the Pack in virtually every statistical category. The senior captain pulled in seven rebounds. She added five assists and a season-best four steals.

On the men's side, Nuolivirta poured in a season-high 18 points in a 100-88 victory last Tuesday at University of Colorado Colorado Springs. He went 8-for-14 from the field and hit a pair of threes. Nuolivirta added six boards and two blocks.

Monday, Nuolivirta and the ThunderWolves beat Johnson & Wales 90-79 in the final nonconference tune-up.

Nuolivirta just missed a double-double with 17 points and eight rebounds. He also recorded four blocked shots.

Next up both teams begin Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play with three home games at Massari Arena.

The ThunderWolves host Fort Lewis Friday and Adams State Saturday. The Pack then battle New Mexico Highlands Tuesday Dec. 5. All three games begin with the women tipoff at 5:30 p.m. and the men's game to follow.
