Bean and Taylor named Pack Athletes of the Week presented by Mobile Record Shredders

PUEBLO, Colo. (November 2, 2017) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Mackenzie Bean (Jr., Bothell, Wash.) and Emery Taylor (So., Aurora, Colo.) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.

Bean and the CSU-Pueblo women's soccer team finished the regular season on a high note as the team not only clinched a spot in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament but the Pack secured a first round home game.

Bean was named RMAC Player of the Year Tuesday when postseason awards were announced. She led the RMAC in total points (26) and total goals (12) in the regular season.

In the quarterfinal game on Halloween and as the four seed, Bean and Co. raced past MSU Denver 1-0. The junior striker netted goal number 13 in the game's 26th minute off a rebounded shot to put the Pack on top.

She helped the Pack defense in shutting down the Roadrunners fast top line.

On the men's side, Taylor pulled in two interceptions for the second straight week and found the end zone on a 25-yard return to help guide the ThunderWolves to a 40-7 home victory against Western State.

His second pick six in as many weeks gave the Pack a 20-0 lead in the second quarter, while his other interception was returned 28 yards to total 53 yards.

He also added two tackles, a half tackle for loss (-1 yard) and a pass break-up.

The sophomore helped the ThunderWolves to hold Western to zero offensive points, 14 yards passing (84 total yards) and just four first downs. Taylor has five interceptions (113 yards) this season with a team-high eight break-ups.

The Pack women's soccer team faces a tall task Friday at Regis in the RMAC Tournament semifinals. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. at Regis Match Pitch. The Pack football team goes on the road and plays Saturday at 1 p.m. at Dixie State in St. George, Utah.
