Martindale and Staines named Pack Athletes of the Week presented by Mobile Record Shredders

PUEBLO, Colo. (April 26, 2017) - Colorado State Univeristy-Pueblo's Lexie Martindale (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) and Thomas Staines (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.

Martindale finished a sensational weekend both at the plate and in the pitcher's circle for the ThunderWolves leading CSU-Pueblo in a four-game series sweep over Fort Lewis.

Martindale set a new program and RMAC record by hitting four doubles in game one Saturday versus the Skyhawks. The senior led the Pack by going 7-for-12 at the plate and recorded a whopping six doubles and three runs en route to sweeping the Skyhawks.

She finished with two walks and 13 total bases and captured a 1.083 slugging percentage.

In the circle Martindale went 3-0 in 10.2 innings pitched. She allowed six runs, four earned and struck out eight batters and scattered sixteen hits. She held the Skyhawks to a .314 batting average and posted a 2.62 ERA.

The sweep keeps the ThunderWovles postseason hopes alive entering the final week of the regular season.

On the men's side, Staines guided the Pack at the Colorado School of Mines Nature's Bakery Invitational at the Stermole Track Saturday, as he ran to a school record time of 1:50.39 in the 800m run.

His winning time was converted to 1:49.58, which is an NCAA Division II provisional time that ranks sixth nationally. He was .58 off the auto mark. He also ran in the 4x400m relay where the ThunderWolves won with a time of 3:18.06.

The CSU-Pueblo softball team wraps the regular season this week at No. 11 Colorado Mesa beginning Saturday in Grand Junction.

The track and field team takes this week off as they prepare for competition at RMAC Outdoor Championships May 7-9 at the Mountaineer Bowl on the campus of Western State Colorado University in Gunnison, Colo.
