Moreno and Lazcano named Pack Athletes of the Week presented by Mobile Record Shredders

PUEBLO, Colo. (March 8, 2017) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Gabby Moreno (Fr., Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Kyle Lazcano (Sr., Anaheim Hills, Calif.) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.

Pack softball third baseman Moreno filled up the stats sheet in leading CSU-Pueblo to a four game series sweep versus Black Hills State.

Moreno batted .583 (7-for-12) with four walks earned, nine RBIs collected and six runs scored. She belted two homeruns, one double and registered a 1.167 slugging percentage along with 14 total bases.

The frosh swiped one base and was perfect defensively in eight putouts and ten assists.

On the men's side, Lazcano has been dominant throughout the entire first month of the season and his start last Friday against Metro State University of Denver may have been his best yet. The righty struck out 12 Roadrunners to earn his third victory of the season.

In his start Friday, Lazcano lasted six innings. He did not surrender an earned run. Lazcano limited the Roadrunners to five hits and surrendered three walks as he led the Pack to a 19-6 victory and moved Lazcano's record to 3-0.

After setting a career-high with 12 punch outs, Lazcano leads the RMAC with 38 strikeouts, nine more than anyone else in the conference. Lazcano's 28 strikeouts ranks 18th nationally. His 32.0 innings also tops the RMAC. He ranks fourth with a 1.69 ERA. Opponents are batting .218 against Lazcano, the fourth worst total in the RMAC. Lazcano's 3-0 record is also the best in the conference.

The Pack softball team entertains Adams State this week in a four game RMAC series at Rawlings Softball Complex. The ThunderWolves baseball team host Colorado Mines in a four game RMAC series beginning Friday at Rawlings Field.
