Long and Kahler named Pack Athletes of the Week presented by Mobile Record Shredders

PUEBLO, Colo. (February 22, 2017) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Taylor Long (Jr., Moreno Valley, Calif.) and Nelson Kahler (Sr., Noosa Heads, Australia) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.

Long earned her first career Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Week award thanks to a 26-point outburst Saturday in an 80-72 win over Colorado Christian.

She went 8-for-11 from the field to claim Offensive Player of the Week honors. Long also sank 6-of-8 from downtown setting a season-high with 26 points, 11 more than her previous best with the Pack.

With the Pack down five in the third quarter against CCU, Long took charge scoring 20 of her 26 points in the second half to lead the Pack to their first outright RMAC Regular Season Championship in 29 years.

Defensively, Long added four rebounds and four steals. She went 4-for-4 at the free throw line as well.

On the men's side, Kahler finished with 17 points on a perfect 8-for-8 effort from the field and added a career-high 14 rebounds to earn his third double-double of the year in an 87-79 victory over Colorado Christian.

Nine of CSU-Pueblo's 36 rebounds came on the offensive glass, which turned into 13 second chance points.

The women's basketball team finishes the regular season with a two game road trip that starts Friday Feb. 24 at Western State Colorado University at 5 p.m. CSU-Pueblo wraps up its regular season with a visit to Colorado Mesa University Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

The Pack men's team stands alone in third place in the RMAC standings, one game behind Colorado School of Mines and Fort Lewis College (both 17-3). The Pack finish the regular season at Western State Colorado University (5-19, 4-16 RMAC) Friday and Colorado Mesa University (7-19, 6-14 RMAC) Saturday.
