Pack Student-Athletes Post 3.0 spring GPA

PUEBLO, Colo. (September 28, 2016) –  in the spring semester of the 2015-16 academic year, Colorado State University-Pueblo student-athletes recorded a cumulative 3.0 grade point average. This cumulative GPA helped the Pack win their second consecutive Steel & Silver trophy.

The Athletic Director's Honor roll recognizes student-athletes, cheer and dance team members and athletic trainers who have a minimum grade point average of 3.0. A total of 323 student-athletes earned spots on the Athletic Director's honor roll with a 3.0 GPA or above.

Additionally, 60 student-athletes, trainers, and cheer & dance team members posted perfect 4.0 GPAs. All of these 323 student-athletes were recognized during a ceremony at intermission of the CSU-Pueblo Volleyball match and halftime of last Friday's Men's Soccer game.

Women's Cross Country, coached by Matt Morris, registered the department's best team GPA with a combined 3.63. Bailey Hughes, Jordan Mathes, Sydni Riley, and Shelby Sweeney achieved 4.0 GPAs in both cross country and track & field. All 10 student-athletes on the women's cross country team earned a spot on the honor roll.

Narrowly edged out for top GPA was Women's Tennis, coached by Mark Schleif.  Eight of the team's nine student-athletes earned a spot on the honor roll with team GPA of 3.58.  Teresa Haro, Mariana Hosomi, Kristin Jensen, Gia Montoya, and Brooke Trevithick all earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.

The top GPA on the men's side came from the Pack Men's Cross Country team. Eight student-athletes were on the honor roll with a GPA of 3.47. Achieving  4.0 GPAs in both Cross Country and Track & Field were Derrick Williams, Noah Crisler, and Alec Choury.

The baseball team, coached by Stan Sanchez, had 23 student-athletes on the honor roll with a 2.87 GPA. Tanner Keiley (Kee-lee) and Justin Willman both had 4.0 GPAs.

Men's basketball, coached by Ralph Turner, had six student-athletes on the honor roll with a 2.66 GPA. Stevan Radokovic posted a 4.0 GPA.

Women's basketball, coached by Jim Turgeon, had 14 student-athletes on the honor roll with a 3.34 GPA. Lauren Heyn, Jaszymn Johnson, Mariana Lambert, and Ashley Piper made a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Cheer and dance, coached by Vonnie Taibi, had nine student-athletes on the honor roll and a 2.75 GPA. Alexandria Davis, Brandi Flynn, Kelci Garcia, and Ursaline Paradiso made a perfect 4.0 GPA.

The five-time reigning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Champion Football team, coached by John Wristen, had 55 student-athletes on the honor roll and a 2.85 GPA. Josh Croy, Morgan Hassan, and Kyle Rosenbrock made a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Women's Golf coached by Josh Koschke had three student-athletes on the honor roll and a 3.31 GPA. Courtney Ewing made a perfect 4.0 GPA.

 

Men's Golf, coached by Josh Koschke, had six student-athletes on the honor roll with a 3.26 team GPA. GJ Kuhn had a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Women's Lacrosse, coached by Monica Potter, had 10 student-athletes on the honor roll and a 3.01 GPA. Shay Grega, Sami Labella, Taylor Wertz, and Allison Wurscher all had a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Men's Lacrosse, coached by Sean Blair, had 13 student-athletes on the honor roll and a 2.4 team GPA. Preston DeHerrera and Caleb Johnson had 4.0 GPAs.

Women's Soccer, coached by Paul Regrutto, had 22 student athletes on the honor roll with a 3.4 GPA. Shanelle Cox, Tanna Duling, Brianna Garcia, Brittney McLain, Kaitlyn Stephenson joined the 4.0 club.

Men's Soccer, coached by Roy Stanley, had 23 student-athletes on the honor roll and 3.1 GPA. Michael Chism, Zachary Davis, Hayes Heil, and Colin Kerr all had 4.0 GPAs.

Softball, coached by Christie Koschke, had 15 student-athletes on the honor roll and a 3.37 GPA. Morgan Hatfield held a 4.0 GPA.

Swimming & Diving, coached by Brian Pearson, had nine student-athletes on the honor roll with a 2.9 GPA. Taylor Wertz and Emily Foster finished with 4.0 GPAs.

Men's Tennis, coached by Schleif, had six student-athletes on the honor roll with a 3.16 GPA. Marcelo Chaparro and Konstantin Sazhnev posted 4.0 GPAs.

Athletic Training led by Roger Clark had 17 students on the honor roll. Megan Brewer, and Skyler Cottrell  

Women's Track and Field, coached by Morris had 22 student athletes on the honor roll with a 3.18 GPA. Makenna Linn made a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Men's track and field coached by Morris had 19 student athletes on the honor roll and a 3.2 team GPA. Williams, Crisler and Choury all have 4.0 GPAs.  

Wrestling coached by Dax Charles had 14 student athletes on the honor roll. Keith Karnes and Tim Urenda had 4.0 GPAs.

CSU-Pueblo Athletics would like congratulate these student-athletes on their accomplishments in the classroom and on the field.
