Pueblo, Colo. (September 14, 2016) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Miriam Roberts (Jr., Boulder, Colo.) and Jake Ice (Sr., Tucson, Ariz.) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.
Cross Country athlete Roberts ran a 22:28 6K to finish first among college runners in the women's Colorado College Invitational race. Roberts bested a field of 92 in her first collegiate win, which included athletes from four other RMAC schools. Roberts helped guide the Pack to a second meet victory this season, included finishing ahead of No. 24 Colorado Mines. She ran an average mile of 6:01.
On the men's side, following a win at the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational in his Pack debut, Ice continued his consistent play at the Tascosa Golf Club. He shot a -3 (213) through 54 holes over two days of competition. Ice carded an even par (72) in his first round. He followed it up with an incredible -4 (68) in the afternoon session Monday. Ice wrapped up his tournament with a +1 (73) to finish fourth.
Roberts and the rest of the Pack XC team will compete Sept. 17 in the Mountain State Invite. The men's golf team travels to Denver to compete in the RMAC North Sept. 19-20 in Denver.
As a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Colorado State University – Pueblo competes in 22 varsity sports in NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics.
